Book of the Week: Chaysing Dreams by Jalpa Williby

Since I use so much time reading and reviewing books I thought I’d share some of the best findings with you. One of the best reads of my most recent reads is definitely Chaysing Dreams by Jalpa Williby.

Synopsis of Chaysing Dreams:

As long as Tess can remember, she has always had the same nightmares, where the girl is running for her life with an unknown force chasing her. Each time, right before the girl is caught, Tess awakens, shaken with fear and confusion. Who is the girl? What do these dreams mean?
Getting through the growing pains of high school with her best friends Jack and Kylie, and then being accepted into her dream college, Tess is excited to start her life of independence. There, she meets the mysterious trainer and mentor, Chris, and she instantly feels a strong connection with him. Unfortunately, he wants nothing to do with her. Although Chris continues to give her the cold shoulder, his overprotectiveness and the occasional slips of sensitivity confuse her. The more Tess tries to connect the missing pieces of her life, the more obscure her past and future appear. To make matters worse, she realizes she has fallen hard for a man who may be her worst enemy. She is unexpectedly exposed to a world of deceit and danger, causing her to be running for her life. Can Tess escape and save not only herself, but also her loved ones? Or, will she be caught, leaving her no choice but to face her worst nightmare?

Chaysing Dreams is the ultimate love story, full of suspense, friendship, betrayal, tragedy, and sacrifice. In this epic tale, you will laugh and cry with Tess – a story full of twists and turns, keeping you guessing until the end.

About the author:

Jalpa Williby was born in India and immigrated to the United States at the tender age of eight. A voracious reader, Williby’s adolescence was marked by a promising academic career. After graduating with a Bachelors of Science from the University of Illinois, Williby went on to earn Masters in Physical Therapy from Northwestern University. Her passion for helping her patients, led her to a specialty in neuroscience, focusing on children and adults with neurological impairments. Juggling her time as a wife, a mother, and working full-time, her love for books never subsided. Williby’s debut novel, Chaysing Dreams, has been a huge success. She has recently released the much anticipated sequel, Chaysing Memories. Currently, she’s working on her third and final installment of the Chaysing Trilogy, as she writes with her heart and soul, her passion flowing through every page.

Here’s my review:

What a great read! I absolutely loved the protagonist Tess, a 16 year-old girl. The author has done amazing work by creating such a wonderful, loveable character. It was pure pleasure to ‘watch’ her grow from a girl to this brave, unique young woman. The plot was intrigue, keeping me on my toes from chapter to chapter and as a huge lover of cliffhangers I have to say, my nails are way shorter after reading this story. The pace definitely kept me glued on the pages from the start and when I turned the last page I had only one thing in my mind…I want more!

Also, if you are interested in dreams and their meanings, this book offers you a great spin on the subject, awakening a lot of ‘what if’ questions and offering perfect food both to your mind and soul. The tension between Tess’s real world and the dream world was built up so skillfully that I noticed I was holding my breath at times whilst waiting for something big to happen. It was like knowing things could not go on so perfectly and at the same time wishing they could, as whatever was coming could not be good…

Clearly this is a mature young adult read but I think readers of all age would love this book. So, if you’re looking for something new, hot and a real page-turner, this is it! I can’t wait to read more of this author.
