58 Five ***** reviews!!!

This book opened up and just pulled me right in…..In an instant I was consumed by the turmoil. It become difficult not to get caught up in all the suspenseful drama that was taking place. I could feel the anguish that this young woman was going through. I wanted to somehow help her even though that would be impossible.

The writing is sharp and to the point with clever metaphors. There are surprises that I didn’t quite see coming. The twists and turns played tricks on my imagination. I couldn’t have anticipated any of it.. From the very beginning there is an emotional pull that kept me entertained as the unpredictable ride unfolded. More than anything I wished for a peaceful resolve.

“Outside in the ominous night the rain slapped Beth across the face. Each drop insulted her flesh with sharp jabs, but she didn’t care. She tried with a strained effort to search the sinister parking lot. The rain however, wouldn’t allow a clear view. The drops were more like thick streams. A scream pierced the darkness, meeting the relentless thunder with a competing force. It was like a battle of wills, each one trying to surpass the other.”

The author of this fast-paced, intense novel pulls the reader into the story right away, with the abduction of a small girl from her mother, who is fleeing from her life with an abusive boyfriend. From the beginning, we care not only about the child, but also about the protagonist, Beth, who, though in late pregnancy, proves to be a strong, courageous woman. The novel begins in medias res, with Beth’s interior voice, and moves quickly into a storm-ridden evening which will take a disastrous direction when Beth’s daughter, Lilly is stolen.

Layer upon layer, the plot unfolds with more small surprises, causing the reader to catapult forward toward what we hope will be a satisfactory resolution.

Novak’s treatment of a sensitive police officer, Daniel Prescott, provides yet another layer on which the novel builds. The author moves between their points of view, allowing a larger perspective on the story and heightening the tension. Like Beth, Daniel becomes a character we care about, whose view of the events we trust.

No spoilers here: the resolution and ending will bring together all pieces of the story, but not in ways we could anticipate at the beginning. “The Abduction of Lilly Waters” is definitely worth reading.

I loved this book! An amazing, fascinating story! I read it in a day, as it captivated me from the first few pages. It’s fast paced and continued throughout the entire book. The characters and situations were described in such intricate detail, I felt like I was part of the story!

The author did an excellent job of drawing me in with unexpected twists, turns, drama and emotions that kept me guessing and imagining what’s going to happen next. This continued until very end…. which was a shocker!
It’s an exciting, compelling, psychological thriller with mystery and suspense throughout the book.
It was a privilege to read this captivating story. T.M. Novak has a literary gift! I cannot wait to read more from this talented and gifted author!
