As the games continue here are three fabulous blurbs by C.N. Lesley. I personally find it really hard to write blurbs. What will I put in them? How much is too much? Am I giving something away whilst summarizing the plot? Should I just delete my blurb and start over? OMG! What if the readers think my book suck because of the blurb?! Some say that you should be able to get a reader hooked with your blurb…so true! If I see a poorly written blurb that basically tells me nothing about the story, and I might decide not to buy the book… If the blurb is just a bunch of praises from the other authors…err…again, it says nothing about the story but more about the author.
Then again, I will definitely not point a finger or denounce no one. As said before, blurbs…so my nightmare!
So, thank you C.N. for letting us enjoy by reading your blurbs! They definitely are well written and did hook me!
Psst! If you have written a great blurb, please, share it with us on the comments!
Beyond the mists of time, a dying warrior binds his soul to his sword with an oath to protect his people. His shade rides with the Wild Hunt while he waits for the call of greatest need, but when it comes, he doesn’t know it is a lie. In the undersea city of Avalon, Arthur nears the end of his acolyte training. But he doesn’t want to spend his life serving the Archive, he wants to fight side by side with the air-breathing people to defeat the predators who are determined to ensure their own survival no matter the cost. Ashira, War Maid princess of the surface-world, is ready to sacrifice her life to defend her kin, but when she is betrayed she must choose whether to die with honor or become one of the creatures her kinsmen fear and loathe. Fortune twists in the strongest hands.
This is no repeat; this is what happens next. Following two threads of time, CN Lesley’s fresh take on the Arthurian tales of old delivers the perfect blend of science fiction and fantasy.
Arthur and Kai have escaped the threat of Emrys, but now they must face life on the surface world—and all the fearsome creatures that dwell there. But just as they assemble the beginnings of a fighting force, they discover a vital component to their safety has been compromised. This means a return to Avalon, where Arthur has an unexpected encounter with the untrustworthy Merlin. The magician’s orders are clear: Arthur must find the sword to save the surface-dwellers and Avalon. There is no alternative.
Kiri Ung, leader of the Nestines and ultimate controller of the Terran slaves on the surface, needs Arthur in order to ensure of the continuance of his species. With the Nestine Queen dying, failure means ultimate extinction. Wherever Arthur goes, so goes Kiri Ung.
Whoever finds the sword first gains control over all humanity. But simply gaining possession of this powerful artifact is not enough to wield its power. Let the battle commence.
Her birth mother left her as a sacrifice to the Wyvern, believing a second
born twin had no soul.
Her foster mother thought Raven possessed the magic of the First born. She believed she raised a slave.
The emperor of all the lands believed she knew the secret of his birth and
that he must silence her.
Her tribe thought they could trade her for safe passage out of the
emperor’s lands.
The Wyvern knows better. He is coming for her. His fury has no limits.
Raven always knew nobody wanted her: Her own mother abandoned her as baby for a wyvern sacrifice. Saved by a local witch to a hard life of labor, Raven always fears a wyvern would hunt her. And when one does he takes her to the mountain aerie of Darkspire Reaches, where she encounters the mighty Drakken lord. Apart from being handsome and powerful, Connor is the most arrogant, self-centered, difficult man Raven has ever encountered. Instant power battles ensue leading to a sparkling love/hate relationship.
Here are some inspiring pictures from C.N. Lesley. The cliffs are Cheddar Gorge. Stonehenge is obvious. The hill is Glastonbury Tor, otherwise known as the Isle of Avalon. Plaque marking the supposed grave of King Arthur in what remains of Glastonbury Abby.
I hope you’re getting in the medieval mood and preparing yourself for tomorrow’s game! It’s all about Arthurian men and meals 🙂
Cheers,
Jen x
