Book Clubs can be cool!

I’m so excited to be a part of Epilogues Book Club! I used to think I’m not a ‘book club material’, as my time is soooooo limited and I didn’t want to tie myself into something that might become a stress bug… Also, ‘book of the month’ sounded more like an obligation than something fun. Not because I don’t like to read, I do, (I love reading!) but to read a book I might not like…and within one month time frame…yep, stress bugs all over me!

But then I was asked to join Epilogues Book Club…and everything changed. No one pressed me to read anything or do anything. I could stop by whenever I wanted and had time…and…really connect with other authors and readers. The daily discussions are awesome, and even though I don’t always have time to participate on them, I love to read the threads. And the people in that club are so nice and friendly! OMG! I really, really love this club! Okay, I’ll behave now…

Anyway, I asked Angie Martin, one of the founders, tell you more about this fabulous club, and share the links to their 500 Members Celebration event that is ongoing through August. Oh, and there’s also a rafflecopter going on (GIVEAWAYS!!! YAY!) and I’m hosting a spot on Tuesday 18th of August…10 am (EST)!  So don’t forget to visit the event and say hi!

FB-CoverWhat is Epilogues Book Club?
Epilogues Book Club is a unique book club community whose primary purpose is to connect readers and authors.

As the name implies, we have two books of the month every month. Members of the club can vote on which books they want, then join in a separate discussion group. After the book is read, we host either a live Skype chat or a live Facebook event with the author so readers can ask anything they want about the book!

But, we offer so much more than that! We also have daily discussion questions where authors and readers can connect by discussing different issues/questions. We have a BETA reader directory where authors can find new BETA readers and readers can sign up to become a BETA. We have the Sunday Spotlight – every Sunday, we spotlight a new author.

We also are different from the “promo drop and run” groups that are filled with nothing but spam. We believe in the old-fashioned route of authors and readers getting to know each other – which is far more satisfying for both readers and authors! However, we know that readers want a deal and authors have things to promote. To that end, there are threads that authors can promote their freebies or sales, their FB author pages. Bloggers and reviewers can also promote themselves in those threads.

In summary, Epilogues Book Club is everything that authors and readers need to find each other!

I so agree! How can an author or a reader join in?

All they have to do is request to join the club at http://bit.ly/EpiloguesBC. From there, they can explore the group with the links under the Description section (upper, right-hand side under the banner). They can jump in as much or as little as they like with daily discussions, etc. We don’t require being active, but being active is the best way to really experience the club and find new authors and readers!

We also have an Authors Only group where authors can join, get to know other authors, ask for help, ask questions, etc. All authors have to do is join Epilogues, then request admission to the Authors Only group from one of the admins!

Tell something about the podcasts you’ve done…

We have a blast with our podcasts! Every other podcast, we either interview an author or discuss a hot topic in the Indie author community. We also provide writing tips, talk about books we’ve read, and we have two contests each month that anyone can join in! One is a Climax Poll – we ask a question in Epilogues and anyone who votes on the poll or comments on the thread is entered to win a prize. The Cliffhanger Riddle is only available on our podcast – we give a clue to a book, and readers email us with their guesses! One random entry wins a prize!

All of the podcasts can be found at http://bit.ly/EpiloguesPodcasts.

Tell something about the event that’s going on…

Right now, we have a 500 Members Celebration throughout all of August – even though we’ve since hit over 800 members! We feature two authors/bloggers per day, and they connect with readers and other authors with introductions to their books and giveaways. The event can be found at https://www.facebook.com/events/845560225533656.

We also have a Rafflecopter in conjunction with the celebration. We’re giving away an Amazon gift card and a ton of ebooks there! The Rafflecopter will close on 8/31/15. The link is http://bit.ly/EpiloguesGiveaway.

Thank you so much for featuring our book club! You are such a valued member of the club, and we hope your readers and author friends will also find great benefit in joining Epilogues!

No, thank you, Angie! Your book club really is the best!

About jenniferloiske

Jennifer Loiske lives in Finland in Naantali, which is a small sunny town on the southwest coast. She is a pre-school teacher by profession but she stayed at home when her youngest daughter suffered brain fever, which developed severe epilepsy in 2004. She is a workaholic Teen/Young Adult author, who loves dark fantasy, teen movies, chips and candies and warm sunny days. She’s also very keen on charity work and a big part of her royalties goes to the charity; mainly to help families with epileptic children but also to the epilepsy units in the hospitals. As a huge fan of dark novels Jennifer's bookshelf is full of books from L.J. Smith, Alyson Noel, Stephanie Meyer, Chloe Neill, Michelle Rowen, Jennifer L. Armentrout, Amanda Hocking and Lauren Kate. She’s also a huge fan of music from Evanescence, Linkin Park, Within Temptation, OneRepublic and Disturbed. But her hunger for music is endless and depend on what mood she’s in or what kind of book she’s working on. She can be pretty much an omnivore when it comes to music.
